Larger Banks Now Requiring Residency from Foreigners when Creating a Bank Account - Northern Cyprus

7/10/2021

The larger banks, namely TEB and Iş bank, have recently set forth an added requirement of residency on foreigners (including foreign property owners) in order to create and operate a bank account in North Cyprus.
Other banks such as Creditwest and Albank as well as the local Turkish banks will not however require residency documents. They instead require the regular documents needed when opening bank accounts which are as follows:
  • a passport photocopy
  • the most recent utility bill paid or Muhtar Letter (proof of residency)
  • a signed bank application issued by the bank
The larger banks mentioned above will still require the documents listed alongside your residency documents.
