Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced that as of June 01st 2022, mask and test requirements for Covid-19 will be lifted, after receiving a vote of confidence at the Parliament on Wednesday 18th May 2022. Case numbers saw a heavy decrease in the TRNC throughout the month of March and are now at an acceptable level to bring mask and test requirements to an end, deems TRNC Prime Minister and a former Health Minister, Mr Ünal Üstel. He pointed out that cases are falling both locally and internationally, with the lowest recorded cases for the country being on Tuesday of that week in over a year, with only one person in intensive care. He went on to say that they are also working on making entry rules at border crossings easier.
